AWS Architect
Role purpose: A varied role covering non-functional requirements (NFR) review, high level concepts explanation into detailed architecture design & documentation including related task management & tracking. Very much NFR focused, supporting the analysis of technical changes, and identifying impacts for the ART teams, helping them to understand the requirements, design solutions and plan their tasks. Leveraging throughout the AWS Well-Architected framework to provide a consistent approach in evaluating deployments, promoting operational excellence, ensuring security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimization and sustainability.
Key accountabilities and decision ownership:
In Fulfilment, the SIA tracks all NFRs for the ART.
The SIA collaborates very closely with Domain Owner, DevOps Engineers, Team Arwen (Platform DevOps for Fulfilment, TDM & CDH/CIM), POs, Amdocs counterparts, PM & RTE.
The SIA collaborates in a Weekly Fulfilment-specific NFR Sync call with the DO. This helps us stay synced up throughout the PI.
The SIA represents the ART in the weekly Tuesday morning “Solution Enabler / NFR Refinement” call.
The SIA also attend NCIS/Oliver’s weekly Thursday “Security Champion Community” call.
The SIA also collaborates and connects with DevOps engineers in the weekly Sync up call with them for internal trainings, discussing implementation status & issues (if any).
The SIA attends all major Fulfilment ART weekly calls – Weekly Sync, System Demo, Fireworks Team Meetings, Feature Sessions etc.
The SIA supports in the analysis of any technical changes and help identify the impacts for the Fulfilment ART teams, helping them to understand the requirements, design solutions and plan their tasks. The role is a ‘Conduit’ and SPoC for NFRs into the ART. Some NFR items the SIA progresses personally and some they track others to complete e.g. Amdocs, DevOps, Testing.
Core competencies, knowledge, and experience:
Telecom Domain Experience + Telecom Application & General Cloud Technical Architecture, Design & Integrations role – with AWS expertise, in particular:
- Orchestrate, facilitate, and steer ART technical design & implementation at program level – collaborating with:
- DevOps teams,
- Client system, platform & infrastructure teams,
- Security,
- 3rd parties, Other as required.
- ART point of contact for environments & infrastructure – Topics include:
- NFR Enablers, Jira artefacts,
- AWS high level & detailed Architecture,
- Environments status, Cloud services,
- Security
- Automation, Observability, Performance, Reliability, etc..
- Support in the analysis and translation of Non-Functional .
Requirements (NFRs), to help teams of the Domain to understand and plan tasks to fulfil such requirements
- Support in the analysis of technical changes (in relation to NFRs) and identify related impacts for the teams of the Domain
- Leverage throughout the AWS Well-Architected framework to provide a consistent approach in evaluating deployments, promoting operational excellence, ensuring security, reliability, performance efficiency, cost optimization and sustainability.
- Helping in case of any defects.
Profound Cloud Technology, Network, Security and Platform Expertise (AWS), AWS Well Architected Framework
Expertise in automation and workflow like Cloud formation templates, Ansible scripts and Python scripts.
DevOps Tools: GitHub Actions, ArgoCD, Terraform, K8s , Helm Charts development
Good documentation and communication skills.
Degree in IT (any), 10 years of experience in cloud computing and IT.
Must have technical/professional qualifications:
AWS architect/operations associate certification with experience preferred.
Professional experience and knowledge of the telecommunications industry preferred.
