ESSENCE OF ROLE- Key Accountabilities

Linux Build

• 1) OS Installation:

• - Install OS SW, with respect to appropriate version, release and patch level.

• - Upgradation/Migration Knowledge of upgrading OS.

• - Rollback OS/Kernel version.

• 2) Linux Administration:

• - User & Group management.

• - Creating New file system in Linux (LVM, NAS, SAN etc..).

• - Proper understating of Linux Booting process.

• - Linux installation knowledge.

• - RPM package installation knowledge.

• 3) Unix System Configuration:

• - Kernel configuration.

• - User configuration.

• - Yum configuration and usage.

• - OS Patching and Rollback exposure.

• - Understanding of Satellite based OS installation.

• 4) Troubleshooting:(L1/L2) 

• - Troubleshooting for server booting issues and other OS issues.

Cluster 

• Must have good understanding of VCS & VXVM installation and configuration.

• Must have good understanding of MC Serviceguard administration and configuration.

• Should have worked on storage migration activities and cluster upgradation. 

•  Administration of Ignite server, DNS and DHCP servers.

• Must have good exposure on configuration of MC Serviceguard, Veritas Failover cluster and VXVM volume manager.

• Scripting skills would be added advantage

Networking

Understanding of network is a mandatory skill

Storage Technology

Working knowledge of EMC/HITACHI/NetApp storage

Functional Skills

ITIL Certification preferred.

Good understanding of INC, Chane (CRQ), Problem (PBI) &Task management

Knowledge of 1 or 2 Ticketing tool. (remedy/ service now)

Stakeholder communication
